Are you excited about the warmer weather? Birds chirping, flowers blooming, trees turning green, and everything turning yellow from pollen. Are your allergies so bad you dare not venture outside til pollen season is gone? No problem, while quarantined in your house, (by your own choosing this time) there are plenty of things to do inside the home to keep it in tip-top shape.
We will list a few essential tips to get you out of the winter blues and into the summer highs.
Make a phone call- call your HVAC or a qualified HVAC technician to come service your air unit. Better and cheaper to do preventative maintenance than to have an emergency in the summertime and be on a list sweating it out.
Change HVAC filters, while the technician can do all this while they are on site. You should know where and what size your filters are so that you can change them often. You can never change your filter enough and we recommend every 30 to 45 days depending on the type of filter.
Have the attic reinsulated. If there wasn't enough time in the fall time reinsulate, here is another opportunity. Attic temperatures are not at 150 degrees at this time so it is bearable to climb up there and get to work. Or call a professional to do it so you don't have to. Let's keep all that cold air inside the house and not escape out into the world.
When the spring cleaning on the inside is done, touch up the paint on the walls and moldings. Resend them hardwoods and refinish them for another 50 years. Check batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and change water filters on your fridge if it dispenses water. Check weather seals at doors and close that fireplace damper door.
Hire Birdhouse Home Inspection Services for an annual home inspection, pool and spa inspection, radon testing, and roof inspection. We can help you with your maintenance list and can even recommend some qualified and licensed professionals to aid in some projects.
With a little patience and determination, you can have your home going in the right direction for summertime. Stay tuned for part 2 of Spring Has Sprung and we will tackle the outside of the house. We will provide tips to make your neighbors envy of your yard and house.
